Alison and Kathleen were excitedly describing the result of the Third Annual International jam-tart eating contest in the USA. There were three contestants, Karen, Rupert, and Leonard. Alison reported that Karen won the fair, while Rupert came in second. Kathleen, on the other hand, reported that Leonard won the fair, while Karen came in second.
In fact, neither Alison nor Kathleen had given a correct report of the results of the contest. Each of them had given one correct statement and one false statement. What was the actual placing of the three contestants?
